Activities for Strategic Investment & to Lower Anxiety in the Classroom

In this post, we are going to talk about activities for strategic investment and to lower anxiety in the classroom. To do so, we are going to focus on the 'Happy Classrooms' programme. The 'Happy Classrooms' programme is an educational programme based on the positive psychology. Its main goals are to enhance the personal and social development of learners and to promote the happiness of learners, teachers and families. Moreover, it fosters the learning of basic competences.

It has several levels of interaction such as the classrooms, the department teams, the educational centres and the educational community.

The 'Happy Classrooms' programme also promotes the practice of mindfulness to enhance a constant attitude of  calm and consciousness.

Teachers can implement the following activities to lower anxiety and engage strategic investment:

ACTIVITY 1:  A pebble in your pocket
This activity can be done by everyone. It consists on using an object as a reminder to become aware of the present. Teachers can tell students that they have to touch or look at it when they feel angry, frustrated or sad to feel calm and become aware of the positive things around them.

If they add to this activity another exercises such as breathing consciously they will feel more relax.

This activity along with other activities can help students with different needs such as hyperactivity or agresivity problems to focus and to take control of the situation.

ACTIVITY 2: Breathing at the beginning of the class
Level: Primary and ESO
Aims: To create a good learning environment and promote the concentration of students.
Development: First of all, the teacher has to explain how to meditate through breathing. They can breath and focus on the sensations of cold or warm or counting one number in each breathing.

ACTIVITY 3: Create a haiku
Level: Primary and ESO
Aims: To develop creative writing and increase the awareness of the daily life.
Development: Teachers have to explai that a haiku is a Japanese poem and its structure (three lines: 5-7-5 syllables) . After that, students will have to create a haiku about 'how to live in the present being more conscious'.

Good Spring is coming
